Wonder a Wanderer
Photography Collection by
Álvaro J. Caviedes
Wonder a Wanderer is a photographic series shaped by errant movement and wandering perception.
At its centre lies the act of walking, allowing the city to appear not as a fixed structure, but as a shifting field of impressions.
These images emerge from a delirious yet attentive gaze, drifting through unfamiliar places where time loosens and the accelerated rhythm of contemporary urban life momentarily dissolves.

Freed from stable notions of territory, the work unfolds through an illusory layering of forms. Analogue double exposure becomes both method and language, enabling the city to fragment and reassemble itself.
Ruderal landscapes press gently against urban surfaces, producing a cartography that is felt rather than mapped. The city is no longer described; it is sensed as an unstable, transient organism shaped by passage and perception.
The errant, the delirious, and the illusory operate here not as effects, but as conditions of seeing. Through lightness, fragmentation, and subtle ecosystems, the work opens an intuitive dialogue with altered states of awareness, where identity softens, drifts, and quietly reconfigures itself in motion.

Álvaro José Caviedes (Cali, 1994) is a photographer and film producer. In recent years, he has worked as a cinematographer on documentary projects and fiction short films.
His practice is informed by a sustained interest in visual and written poetry, which he translates into experimentation with multiple exposure photography. Through this process, he explores inner and outer landscapes, representing the soul of the paths he traverses through layered structures and natural mirrors that evoke a dreamlike vision of fleeting and sublime memories.
